Google is updating Chrome Web Store with this new feature to help users find high-quality extensions

Google has been working on improving the Chrome Web Store by removing unnecessary clutter and enhancing privacy and security features. In a further effort to assist users in finding top-quality extensions, the company has introduced a new badge called “Featured” in the Chrome Web Store. According to a report from 9to5Google, extensions that are awarded the Featured badge exhibit superior quality, having been evaluated by Chrome team members and adhering to technical best practices. These extensions with the featured badge also comply with privacy guidelines for enhanced privacy and security, in addition to being based on the latest APIs provided by Google.

The badges themselves will be displayed below the title of the extension in a striking blue color. Hovering over the badge will provide users with more detailed information about the app and its developer. Extension developers for Chrome can apply for the Featured badge by submitting their extension for review via the support page under the “My item” section and selecting the option “I want to nominate my extension”.

It is worth noting that these badges and the review submission process are currently not active on the Chrome Web Store, and Google has not disclosed a specific timeline for when users will begin seeing the Featured badge in the store.
