Ayan Mukerji reveals he wants to create a web series about Brahmastra’s Astraverse

Ayan Mukerji has elaborate plans to expand the ‘Brahmastra’ franchise, beginning with the first installment titled ‘Brahmastra: Part 1 – Shiva’. He intends to not only create sequels and spin-offs, but also explore opportunities on OTT platforms to tell the vast mythological saga.

Immediately after the release of ‘Brahmastra: Part 1 – Shiva’, Mukerji revealed his intention to work on the sequel, ‘Brahmastra: Part 2 – Dev’. Furthermore, he is currently developing a web series called ‘Astraverse’. In an interview with a news portal, he mentioned his plan to adapt certain elements from the franchise for an OTT platform, considering a narrative that spans nine episodes. Additionally, Mukerji expressed his desire to create gaming, merchandising, and virtual reality experiences based on the ‘Astraverse’ theme, although these ideas are still in the early stages of planning.

‘Brahmastra: Part 1 – Shiva’ revolves around the story of Ranbir’s character, who discovers the power of the ‘Agni’ (fire) astra after encountering the love of his life, Isha (Alia). Ayan previously stated that the film’s central theme was love, hence it was initially titled ‘Love’ during the production phase. The concept of love is integral to the story as Shiva derives his power from it. However, Ayan revealed that ‘Brahmastra: Part 2 – Dev’ will delve into a darker and more intense conflict, providing a richer narrative. He also confirmed that new characters will be introduced in the sequels while Ranbir will continue to be a part of the franchise.
